Take it All In

August 15, 2018 in motherhood

A little reminder to my heart tonight from my mind that likes to wander and worry at night about how quickly days turn into years. Maybe you could use a reminder, too.

————

Every day, take this all in.

The open spaces.

All four of your loves in one frame.

The magic they find in the tiny colorful rocks hiding in the dirt

The dirty fingers bringing you treasures as tokens of their love for you.

The muddy footprints on the way to the bath after their wild barefoot adventures.

The sleepy head you kiss goodnight and the soft head of hair you whisper I love you into.

The memories being made, if only you pause to notice.

Life is happening now.

And it’s beautiful.

And it’s yours.

Take it all in.

These are the things that will matter most of all at the end of every day.

These are the things that will fill your heart and theirs.

And a quiet mind comes only from a heart that’s full.
